ASTM A-252 covers nominal thickness of the wall steel pipe piles of cylindrical shape and applies to pipe piles in which the steel cylinder acts as a permanent load-carrying member, or as a shell to form cast-in-place concrete piles.
Manufacturing process:
The steel shall be made by one or more of the following processes : Martin/Bessemer furnace (open-hearth), basic-oxygen or electric furnace.
ASTM A-252 chemical composition:
Others not specified, Phosphorus is max of 0.050%.
ASTM A-252 mechanical properties:
Yield strength is min 240Mpa (grade1) and 310Mpa(grade2) and 205Mpa(grade2).
Tensil strength is min 414Mpa (grade1) and 455Mpa(grade2) and 345Mpa(grade3).
Elongation is 30%(grade1) and 25% (grade2) and 20% (grade3).
